We’ve made it! This is a horror movie fan’s favourite month, as we lead up to Halloween at the end of October. And what better way to commemorate it than looking at 31 genuinely scary, scary moments and scenes in movies.
We start with a cracker – Dario Argento’s 1977 Italian giallo classic Suspiria. It’s one hell of a ride and we could have gone for an obvious scene – yep, the girl crawling through a locked room of barbed wire, the guide dog tearing out his owner’s throat, the unsettling ‘Witch! Witch!’ score of Goblin. But what really gets to us – especially as you’ve just sat through 98 minutes of visual and aural assault and a spectacular, intense reveal end – is when the end credits pop up as the ballet school goes up in flames, proclaiming ‘You have been watching ‘SUSPIRIA’ over the creepy Goblin music. It unsettles us even more and brings a very strange, but very cool, end to the film.
